They are a team with a dream, “Can we get our wings?”

Team Phylte not only makes music and throws parties, but it has its own clothing line entitled Fly P.E.A.T.

The P stands for “plausible”, the E for “exotic”, the A for “acme” and T, for “tawdry.”

“Fly P.E.A.T. was a way of expressing our individuality, and the fact that we are unusual, exotic, flashy, and somewhat ruthless,” senior Bobby “2gunz” Lester said. “I came up with the idea and everything but my close friend “Sleepy” (Antwan “A.J.” Thomas) drew the logo which is the face of a boy entitled “P.E.A.T.”

Their clothing line has been out for almost a year and their shirts can be seen worn throughout the school on everyone from freshman to seniors. Currently, the only items in their clothing line are shirts ranging in colors from red, black, purple, blue, pink, and green with a cost of $15-$20, but this group of teens that have a vision.

Junior Tyler “BugZ” Long said they have hopes of expanding the line to hats and jeans, and even bigger hopes of going worldwide.

Many successful clothing companies have started off from humble beginnings, with simply a vision and raw materials-one company in particular that comes to mind is FUBU.

According to fundinguniverse.com, the company’s founder and CEO, Daymond John founded the company with three childhood friends, similar to that of Team Phylte. John took a risk by converting his home into a small factory devoted to the production of hats and rugby-style t-shirts.

This once small business eventually saw its products in over 100 Macy’s stores and over 300 J.C. Penney stores nationwide, and reaped in benefits of $200 million in 1998.

Fly P.E.A.T. is promoted in a number of ways.

“I do promoting through face-book and different connects from friends that are familiar with the business such as Yella Boy Trent, and a line called Frome2u and Solmunki,” Lester said.

Also Team Phylte has a website (team-phlyte.webs.com/,) where their shirts are available.

According to the website, Team Phylte is a family, business, and only one of its aspects consists of fashion. Many steps were taken in order to make the clothing line a success, which included drawing the logo, finding a print company, and raising money in order to make it happen.

For this young team of over 20 friends, the possibilities are endless. They have already established themselves throughout the school, and seem dedicated towards expanding their clothing line to further heights.
